NEW: Diane Young for Congress Unveils First Quarter Fundraising Figures, Major Endorsement
Young: “With renewed momentum, it’s evident that the growing enthusiasm surrounding my candidacy is rooted in my longstanding ties to this community and vision for Congress”
Sterling Heights, MI — Today, the grassroots campaign of Diane Young for Congress announced it raised over $120,000 in Q1. With over 900 contributions last quarter, Young again received grassroots support from every city and township in the district. Building on her fundraising success, Young also announced the endorsement of Mayor Lori Stone, who leads Michigan’s third largest city and a pivotal hub within the 10th district.
Mayor Stone’s endorsement builds on the long list of elected officials supporting Young’s campaign, such as State Senators Mallory McMorrow and Rosemary Bayer, and Warren City Council President Angela Rogensues. In addition to union endorsements, Young’s campaign has been the only campaign to announce dozens of key endorsements from local leaders and with robust grassroots support, Young was the first and only Democratic candidate to open a field office, which will ensure a strong ground game as we approach the critical summer months ahead of the primary.
“With renewed momentum, it’s evident that the growing enthusiasm surrounding my candidacy is rooted in my longstanding ties to this community and vision for Congress, including safeguarding abortion rights, lowering the cost of living for Michiganders, and protecting Social Security,” said Young. “I’m thankful to Mayor Stone for her endorsement, who has run successful campaigns here in Macomb. With Mayor Stone’s support and our continued fundraising success our small-dollar grassroots movement will continue to propel us to victory.”
“I am proud to endorse Diane because of her commitment to our community and the work she is willing to put in to improve it” said Mayor Stone. “I have known Diane for years and I have seen her work hard behind the scenes whether it was on a board or her business. She is a servant leader that has everyone’s best interest in mind. Diane’s commitment to helping working families succeed is what we need in Congress. She would be a tremendous partner for the City of Warren and would work hard to do everything she can to grow our community.”
The daughter of a secretary and a union carpenter, Diane Young grew up in Macomb County where she was raised to work hard and always help others. Diane worked her way through school and became a financial planner. For over thirty years Diane has helped Michigan families like hers achieve their dreams. The business she started with a folding table and a phonebook has now helped hundreds of Michiganders buy homes, save for college, and plan for the future; as well as advise scores of small businesses on their growth and success. Diane lives in Warren with her husband, in a family of proud union members. She still finds ways both big and small to help out our community.
